• Page ix, line 9: replace "then" by "than".
• Page 9: two lines below (1.17): the last term should be "m_{22}" not "m_{12}".
• Page 15, line 3 of paragraph beginning "We next consider....": replace "by" by "be".
• Page 18, line 2 of paragraph beginning "As stated above,..": replace "depends" by "depend".
• Page 19, in expression (1.45): replace "(1-f)x(1-x) by (1-f)2x(1-x)" and replace (1-x)^2 by(1-f)(1-x)^2.
• Page 21, line 2 of paragraph beginning "On the other hand,....": replace "of" by "or".
• Page 62: The constraint (2.58) is not necessary.
• Page 63, two lines above Equation (2.66). Delete "of".

• Page 71 and 72, equations (2.96), (2.97) and (2.98) arise on both pages. Thus caution should be used when reference is made in the book to any one of these equations to check which is meant.
• Page 73, equation (2.105). There is a minus sign missing on the right-hand side. It should read " = -2D(....)
• Page 90, line below (2.157), and page 97, line 7, and page 107, line 12: replace \alpha by \ phi.
• Page 90, in the range for j in the second line of equation (2.159): delete ";".
• Page 90, line 1. It should read "... single unit eigenvalue..".
• Page 91, equation (2.161). There are several errors in this equation:
  
  • All suffices in the second part of this equation should have "i" replaced by "j" (11 times in all).
  • Once this is done, the suffix of the second quantity in the numerator of the third term in this expression should be changed to "j+2".
  • The suffix "M-2" in the numerator of the last term in the second expression should be "M-1".
• Page 98, line 1 of paragraph beginning "We suppose that.....": replace the second w_{11} by w_{22}.
• Page 100, last line on page: replace j^{i-2} by i^{j-2}. Also, insert a comma before i^0.
• Page101, line 10 (in the calculation for a_{jj}): delete the comma preceding y_j.
• Page 101: In equation (3.34) and the equation two lines above (3.34), replace n by 2N.
• Page103: In the numerator of equation (3.41), replace "t" by "u" (twice).
• Page 106, line 3, and twice in the paragraph starting "The above definitions..." on page 121: replace "(3.30)" by "defined by (3.45)-(3.47)".
• Page 106, three lines below (3.55): delete the extra space after "methods".
• Page 113: In equation (3.75), replace "n" by "N".
• Page 118, line 6: delete "often".

• Page 123, the definition of C in the middle of the page is incorrect. The three lines "where ....becomes" surrounded this definition should be replaced by "where C = 8 * lambda - 4, with lambda defined by..."
• Page 146. In Equation (4.49), P_1(b) should be P_1(p).
• Page 147. In Equation (4.51), P_0(p) should be P_0(x).
• Page 149, line 2 (equation (4.61). Replace "dx" by "dz".
• Page 172, one line below equation (5.63). Delete the "approximately equals" sign.
• Page 174, equation (5.71). dx is missing in the integration.
• Page 216, 7 lines from bottom of page. Delete the "is" after "least".
• Page 219, line 9. The Karlin and Feldman reference is GENETICS volume 90, 1978, pp. 813-825.
• Page 231. There are two typographical errors on this page.
  • In the tableau on lines 10-11, the final A₁A₂ should be A₂A₂.
  • In the final line of equation (6.86), "x_y^-1D" should be "x+y^-1D".

• Page 309, equation (9.50): replace "j" by "s".
• Page 313. The claim in the second sentence of the paragraph beginning "Finally.." is not correct. For sufficiently large sample sizes and intermediate values of \theta, the MSE of the estimate of \theta using K can be less than the variance of the estimate using S. As a result, the third full paragraph on page 313 should start at "It is in principle.".
• Page 313, equation (9.69): the upper summation limit should be "n-1", not "n".
• Page 314, lines 1 and 2: replace "Standard statistical ...... shows that" by "Maximum likelihood theory suggests that".
• Page 314, six lines from end of page: replace the sentence starting "This is... " by "Using equation (9.26), this is identical to 1/(1 + \theta)."
• Page 316, equation (9.76): replace "b_i" by "b_k" , and " k \le l" by "k \ne l".
• Page 317, line 10: insert "RN^{-1}" before "and".
• Page 317, in formula for \alpha two lines below (9.81): "64^2\psi" should be "6 \psi^2".
